Dating a catholic man
I still had a lot of healing ahead of me but it was difficult to reconcile that understanding with all the well-meaning, but misguided “help” of friends and co-workers who were trying to get me to dive back into the dating pool before I was ready to swim. There are essentially two types of dating: – Social Dating Social dating usually takes place in groups but is not limited to them.It can also be one-on-one in a friends-only manner. My 22-year old college-graduate daughter has been dating a Catholic boy, also a college graduate since they met in high school. He’s a nice boy, and on a personal level, I like him very much, which I’ve told both him and her. With its roots in Vatican II, the New Evangelization is a recognition that a crisis exists in the Church because large numbers of baptized Catholics have not been evangelized. But perhaps the most critical driver or the crisis has been largely ignored: the Catholic “man crisis.” Without coming to grips with why large numbers of Catholic men continue to leave the faith, and why many of those who remain lack passion, the New Evangelization will flounder; for men are essential to the health of parishes and the passing along of the faith to children.
Finding a wife begins with knowing how to date successfully.
Also, my wife doesn’t care that this boy isn’t Jewish; in fact, I seem to be the only one in either my wife’s family or mine who opposes this relationship or that it could result in marriage, God forbid a billion times over. I love my daughter very much and I want a relationship with her, but I don’t know what to say or do to make her understand how important it is for her to marry within the Jewish faith.
I am a regular Sabbath and holiday shul-goer, and we do at least try to observe in the house, although my wife does it mostly in deference to me.
Social relationships are also an excellent way to discern your new path after divorce without pressure. Is God calling you to some other way of life such as the religious life or living as a single who serves others in some way?
These are all important questions that can begin to be answered through social dating.
Comparing Catholic men to Evangelical Christian men also reveals the lack of passion of Catholic men: significantly more Evangelical men think religion is very important in their lives, are certain about a personal God and pray on a regular basis.
